The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) faced the challenge of transforming its traditional work environment and ways of working to adapt to the changing landscape of work and the workplace, accelerated by the pandemic. They sought to design a new workplace in Singapore that supports their organisational transformation into a networked organisation while catering to ever-evolving work patterns.

The challenge was to create a workplace that would attract employees back to the office and align with TCCC's commitment to delivering hybrid work solutions.

Space Matrix collaborated with Coca-Cola to explore an out-of-the-box thinking solution. The focus shifted from solely space and zoning to understanding the why behind employees returning to the office and what aspects were crucial for the company to invest in. Engagement with users and understanding their evolving roles and requirements became paramount. The approach involved transitioning to a completely flexible workplace with unassigned seating and unique collaboration spaces like the work cafe and the sunset bar.

The design solution revolved around the concept of modes of experiences rather than merely space types. Space Matrix engaged with different users within the space, combining a global outlook with a local perspective to ensure alignment and cohesiveness of ideas. Taking inspiration from Singapore's deep harbours and iconic natural landscape, the result was the creation of a Living Lab - a workplace designed to evolve with its users.

The design approach focused on individual needs, understanding changing work practices, and workplace experiences to elevate team dynamics and embrace the new hybrid workplace solution. The Living Lab prioritises wellbeing and social moments, providing an equitable experience for all staff.

The design successfully transformed TCCC's workplace, making 100% of employees agile. The Singapore Keppel Bay project set the benchmark for future 30 locations, embodying the essence of The Coca-Cola Company and contributing to its business and people.

The new workplace became a reflection of TCCC's commitment to its organisational transformation and its dedication to delivering future-forward solutions for its employees.
